FRANK LLOYD WLEFT THE ACTUAL KIDS IN ACTUAL AMERICA
Conceptualised during a sizeable solo trip to the US, 'The Actual Kids In Actual America' is a contemplative new opus from London-based musician and writer Frank Lloyd Wleft. Constantly shifting in mood from chugging country-flavoured indie rock, to heavy post-punk minimalism and a wholly unexpected outro of raw a cappella poetry, the impassioned track feels like a culmination of observation and frustration. He explains: ‘The Actual Kids in Actual America’ was written to soundtrack my two-month journey across the US in 2022, with lyrical details emerging along the way. Inspired by Beat Generation poetry, Pop Art and the writings of the likes of Jean Baudrillard and Rebecca Solnit, the song blends a lot of what I saw and imagined, everything presented as equally enchanting and equally banal." Perhaps appropriately, given the political undertones of this new release, Frank Lloyd Wleft will headline Hackney's Paper Dress Vintage on the 4th of July as the results of the general election tally up. -Holly Mullineaux
